Club Philosophy

Bellaire Women's Lacrosse is a non-UIL sport that provides a fun and competitive lacrosse playing atmosphere for high school girls in 9th-12th grade. We are a Division II team playing in the Texas Girls High School Lacrosse League (TGHSLL), South District. The team is open to Bellaire High School students, or players zoned to Bellaire whose school does not offer playing opportunities. Physical education credit is available to those players who meet specific HISD participation requirements.

The team consists of two squads, one varsity and one junior varsity (JV). The varsity squad is composed of players who have demonstrated the attitude, skills, athleticism, and commitment to succeed at the varsity level and strive to develop the skill to play at the collegiate level. The JV squad is composed of less-experienced players who demonstrate a commitment to play and improve. Both squads work under a unified training curriculum administered by the coaching staff which allows junior players to progress to the varsity level as their skills develop.

Our fall season runs September through December with training three evenings per week, and both teams participate in playdays and tournaments designed to help the coaches divide players into two squads for the regular spring season. Coaches will often move players between squads during the fall to assess playing skills and identify the best balance for each roster. The spring rosters are usually set by early November in order to prepare for the spring season.

The spring season runs from February through April, with both squads playing 10 - 12 games.

Practices are typically held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at St. Philip's United Methodist Church.
